Lu Robitaille : Aesthetic Appreciation

by Deborah E on April 25, 2012

Ms. Robitaille art is engaging and stimulates the senses. The color draws me in, but also is so natural that it does create a desire, within me, to visit the location… as if I can feel and breathe the air, just by viewing her paintings.

Her talents are not limited to painting, but she also has a very expressive way of writing, complimentary to her fine art talent. Come, join with me, and breathe the air of the Georgia Bay as you view this beautiful artwork by Ms. Robitaille.

Hey, I’m looking forward to that coffee table book and biography!

Tips for Storing Musical Equipment/Gear

by GuestAuthor on April 21, 2012

While some musical equipment is more durable than others, all instruments and their accompanying gear must be stored with certain measures in mind, or else you will find yourself having to deal with expensive repairs or even replacing your instruments. So, before you lock away your gear, keep these tips in mind.
Invest for the long term.
While tempting, discount storage solutions may seem like a deal at first, but the cost-to-savings ratio can quickly reverse. As mentioned above, improperly stored equipment can bleed your wallet dry. All it takes is one day of extreme weather to cause expensive damages.

Your best bet is to invest in a climate-controlled storage unit which can guarantee certain storage conditions. Climate controlled units also tend to be insulated from the weather, making water and mold damage less likely. Not all units offer humidity control, and temperature guarantees can vary, so make sure you know what you’re getting. Also, keep in mind that while friends or family have the best intentions in mind, they are not professionals, and accidental damage can occur, likely to leave you with no recourse for compensation.

Storing electronic musical equipment.
Because they are generally made up of a combination of plastic, adhesives, and fine metals, electronics are especially fragile. Heat, cold, moisture, or even arid conditions can damage components in a device. Make sure your storage space meets the following specifications to avoid damage.

Nina Weiss : Diligent and Disciplined

by Deborah E on April 18, 2012

Ms. Weiss is quite the artist and teacher and all around art entrepreneur and motivational, inspiring woman. What I realized, in this interview, is how diligent and disciplined she is. That does not detract from the beauty of her art, but rather enhances it, as she exercises, in the same way that an athlete would, for a big game. She does not site back and wait for it to happen, but rather disciplines herself to take the steps to allow it to flow through her, and then, in turn to teach her students what she has learned in life, and in art.

As a musician, I am inspired to ensure that I don’t just “wait for it to happen,” but work at my craft, my music.

Summer Style Tips : What To Wear

by GuestAuthor on April 14, 2012

When the sun comes out, so does our desire to be outdoors. The latest bars, barbeques, beach parties… You name it, we want to be there, and be seen there. The only dilemma is what to wear. Well, fear not, because here are some summer fashion rules. You can follow them, adjust them, or make up your own as you go along.

Barbecue

Barbecues are about open fire, so expect plenty of black smoke, grease, and anything you can expect from a back garden. This is not the time to wear your finest dress or jewelry. Instead, wear your favourite jeans with a fancy top that is also practical – no dangling sleeves or chiffon fabrics (high risk of catching fire!). Shoes are usually easy to walk in – glamorous flip-flops or low-medium heeled sandals.

For this look, the jewelry can be whatever you like – colourful and chunky, or traditional and dainty. Make-up should be kept very light.

Beach Parties
Beach parties are similar to barbeques, except that you also have the option to go swimming afterwards. A good outfit would be a long summer dress with beachwear underneath. That way, you have the option to go swimming if you wish, but even if you don’t, you look gorgeous and elegant. Shoes should be pretty or glamorous flip-flops, or low heeled sandals. Jewelry and make-up will depend on whether or not you intend to go swimming. If you want to have the option, they should both be very light.
